About ITM University
ITM University is amongst India’s foremost independent, multidisciplinary universities, established 18 years ago in the year 1996, as an Engineering College. The brand ITM has earned a very respectable name in quality education in Northern India. Subsequent to its elevation to University, in the year 2009 under the Act of Haryana Government legislation, it embraced three most performing and futuristic disciplines of Engineering, Management and Law for its three Schools. The University is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, member of American Society of quality. Its quality management systems are complaint with ISO 9001:2008 standards. It is being accredited by Accreditation Services for International Colleges (ASIC), United Kingdom. ITM University has been consistently ranked as one of the India’s top 50 universities. We continue to be ranked as the No.1 University in Haryana and the No.1 Private University in the NCR, as per current rankings of the Outlook-MDRA survey, 2013, and the CSR-GHRDC survey, 2013. ITM University is ranked as the top private university in NCR of Delhi and Haryana in the annual outlook - MDRA survey, best private Engineering University in NCR of Delhi by Hindustan Times, HT C Fore survey in 2013. ITM University has conferred A++ category university of India and was awarded a certificate of excellence by All India Engineering College Survey 2013 conducted by Business & Management Chronicle of Emerging Business Management.

Holistic Development of Students
Academic life at ITM University is full of opportunities that provide horizontal and vertical mobility, the desired freedom and flexibility to engage in one’s passions and innate skills or give free rein to one’s creative energies, so essential for all-round personality development. It provides them the requisite funds and necessary physical and academic infrastructure, personal guidance and support in their pursuit of new knowledge and innovative project. Students on their part are constantly motivated to meet the rigour of academics, and in their endeavours they are not alone but closely supported and mentored by their teachers and peer tutors, even outside their class engagements.
Students have been given the exceptional freedom to be part of any faculty research group of their choice at the University and work in unison with the group, thereby learning the ropes early in their careers. The academic year 2012-13 saw a significant rise in the participation of students in innovative projects and in publishing research papers. For the first time, ITMU undergraduate students bagged almost a dozen industry and government-sponsored research projects, often only made available to PhD research scholars at other universities.
Throughout the year, student-led clubs, social, cultural and sports activities enliven the campus with the talent. Yukti, a social initiative by ITMU students, was recently recognized and honoured internationally when a prestigious international academic organization, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, comprising over 477 universities, conferred on it the winner’s prize for the best university in Social Outreach, a rare recognition for an Indian university. Students get gainful employability in a profession of their choice, whether a job with a handsome salary, or an entrepreneurial venture, or further pursuit of education. ITMU has well-established units for empowering students in each of these enabling fields. Campus placements are a high point of ITMU achievements. The University insists on a mandatory GATE test for all engineering students. This helps them in making decisions for higher studies.
Achievements:
- ITM University received the 1st prize among 100 institutions across India, as the best e-Gov campus.
- ITM University Gurgaon was felicitated as Centre of Quality Education in Delhi and NCR. ITM University was amongst the top 14 institutions in Delhi and NCR as Centers of Excellence.
- The University was given a Premier Institution status by the Accreditation Service for International Colleges (ASIC) UK, after it secured ‘Commendable’ grades in seven out of eight measurable areas of a university’s functioning.
- ITMU won the first prize in the Social Outreach category in competition with 477 global universities under the Association of Commonwealth Universities (ACU).

School of Engineering and Technology
The School of Engineering and Technology with its five academic departments - Applied Sciences, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Science and IT, Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering continues to move forward in its pursuit of educational excellence at ITM University. All branches have B. Tech and M.Tech courses.
The Department of Applied Sciences has launched the BSc Mathematics (Hons) and MSc Mathematics courses in 2013.
Industry- Academia Engagement
A ‘real-world experience’ is a crucial component of our education and training, and this is done through the rigours of summer internships in industry, focus on guest lectures by eminent academic and industrial experts, industry oriented training programmes, regular interaction with industry experts through visits to the shop floors and industry-related projects. Industry engagement across all Departments has become a way of life and a critical deliverable in the School of Engineering.
Research Orientation and Conferences
After we have become an independent university, the focus has been to further enhance the level of research. There are research groups which are working in areas like Speech Signal Processing, Software testing, Fuzzy Systems, Data Mining, and Logistics management, among many others. The University today has 96 research scholars pursuing their PhDs, which is a powerful measure of our research orientation. There has been a healthy growth in the number of publications by the various departments, with a high focus on quality. Vice-Chancellor’s Innovation Fund has been instituted to encourage research at ITMU. The scheme aims at encouraging innovative ideas amongst research workers, faculty members and students to seed research activity.
About the Department
The Department of Computer Science & Engineering and Information Technology under the School of Engineering & Technology is one of the core departments of ITM University and was established in 1996 to initially offer Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science Engineering. Keeping in view the dynamic nature of growth in the industry and the increasing demand for IT professionals, later the department has started a postgraduate program to offer Masters of Technology degree in Computer Science & Engineering and software Engineering.
The Department embodies the University’s commitment to making profound and lasting contribution to the society, by cherishing and pursuing the exalted goal of nurturing “Educated Indian Citizens” with well-honed faculties, a powerful sense of fitness, a profound belief in democratic ideas and eclectic mind.
Faculty
CSE/IT faculty is highly productive educators, researchers and expertise in areas of Computer Science and Engineering. All faculty members are holding Master of Technology (M.Tech) and a number of them hold Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) degree from institutions of excellence in India and abroad.
