Royal Academy of Engineering,UK under Newton Bhabha Fund has approved a nation wide initiative on "AI and deep learning Skilling and Research" . University college, London, Brunel University, London and Bennett University, India are collaborators of the project. NVIDIA and AWS Educate, Videoken and Edvantics are industry partners. The initiative got further boost when AICTE saw great merit in the initiative and has recommended all of its 10000 approved institutions to associate with the project. The project has 12 collaborator institutions, 100 Lead zonal partners and 1000 basic partner institutions, 10000 teachers and 1000000 Students. At its full scale the project involves the resources of more than 500 million (including cash, kind and human contributions from the partners). Project is changing the landscape of AI Research in India. Due to the Interdisciplinary nature of applications in this domain, the impact will percolate to all the departments of the institutions. Outcome of the project will be tangible in terms of its impact to Engineering community and general public. Super-computing infrastructure, Strong faculty profile and liberal institution support from Bennett University will fulfil the stated objectives of the project. Now we have more than 50+ Industries participating in different activities of the project including product development and commercialization.
Newton Bhabha Research Project by Roayal Academy of Engineering, UK with a Total Budget of 100 Lac INR The objective of the project is to enhance the capacity of the teachers to improve the education delivery experience. The Project involves design and development of four mini-MOOCs. Two of these will be on (i) How to design MOOC Content (ii) MOOC Life Cycle (Inception to Delivery). Then there will be two more modules to demonstrate the best practices with the help of two popular topics. Innovative Pedagogy to deliver these mini-MOOCs will be designed and evaluated. It will help to suggest the best practices for further Mini-MOOCs to be developed. In the first phase Lead UK and Lead Indian institution will partner to develop these modules. In the next action India has been divided into 11 zones and mentor institutions have been chosen, who will be trained on these techniques and they will be further guided to develop more mini-MOOCs. These institutions will also act as a laboratory to implement these four developed modules in their classrooms and give the feedback to further enhance the pedagogy for future Mini-MOOCs. These institutions will further train 10-15 institutions in their zone. Project will involve train-the -trainer workshops for the management, faculty and the designers. It will result in a significant hand-holding of Tier-2/3 Institutions who want to progress in providing the quality in higher education and want to embrace the latest techniques in education delivery. It will result in driving technology enhanced education adoption in Universities. It will also help in creating a network of instructors committed to take the higher education in India to next level of excellence. The project has direct consequences on the National projects like Skill India, Digital India and Start-Up India. The learning from the project can easily be translated to new frontiers to upscale the impact of the project.
DST Research Project on Tox2020: Toxicity Prediction of pre clinical trial drug using Physicochemical Properties and Machine Learning Approaches. The project is approved at a total cost of Rs. 24 Lakhs. The objective of the project is to develop better toxicity assessment features, methods and algorithms along with better data structures to handle the big data. To create new methods for assessing chemical toxicity which will have the potential to improve the procedure followed by scientists to evaluate environmental chemicals and develop new medicines. To develop a framework to quickly and efficiently test certain chemical compounds for their probable chances to disrupt processes in the human body.To develop a stand-alone and/or web-based application(s) that helps the researchers and research community to predict the toxicity of the newly discovered chemical compound ECR/2015/000150
